Margaret M.A little more than 6 years ago I was on maternity leave with my second child. I knew I wanted to lose the weight and feel strong again. I felt that I already knew everything I needed in order to do that. I had been to great exercise classes, I knew about heart rates, circuit training, aerobic and strength. I knew the basic calculations of calories in and calories out (don't we all really). So when my husband suggested I get some personal training, I thought it seemed like the ultimate in wasteful, pampered laziness. I knew all these things, and all I needed to do was "just do it". I was living in San Francisco at the time and I ultimately did decide to try some personal training sessions at a gym in my neighborhood.

I realized I enjoyed this type of workout and felt stronger and fitter than I had in a while. Yes I did have to admit to my husband that this was a good idea! Nevertheless, I did fall off the wagon with moving, another child and all the other complexities of life. After I moved to Decatur and had my 3rd child I was in a position again to think about how to really re-focus on my health and fitness again. My sister was doing some personal training with Lianne and loving it and we decided to start doing boot camp together. I was hesitant, it will be too hard, let's just work out together, it's so early, it's so cold.

Now more than 18 months later, I have been doing boot camp consistently and some personal training sessions as well. Thanks to Lianne and the wonderful boot camp group, I feel fitter and stronger than I have in years. I also now know for sure that the motivation of the group, and the accountability of the trainer are so important to me. Instead of wondering why I can't do it on my own, I understand that my health is so important to me and my family's quality of life that I should do whatever it takes to be strong and healthy. Having my sister, husband, friends and neighbors involved in boot camp and training with Lianne keeps me from letting the excuses get the best of me. I know they all have the same reasons to NOT get up and work out and yet it is possible to overcome those excuses and get it done.

I have signed up for a triathalon in June with some other ladies in the boot camp. It might be pure craziness. I don't really like swimming, I have a clunky bike, I haven't really started doing more than my current routine to prepare. Nevertheless, I do feel like I will be about to figure it out and push myself to do things I don't think I can do. I attribute this to my work in boot camp where, with Liane's inspiration, I have learned to really doubt my limits.

In 5,10, 15, 20 and 40 years from now, I want to be strong and active and have exercise be a part of my everyday life. I don't think I'll fall off the wagon again, because I know more than ever how good it makes me feel and how important it will be to aging well.

Sara M.It’s been 2 ½ years since I started working out with Lianne. Although I had been a competitive athlete for much of my life, I had become overweight and out of shape after birthing two children. Lianne and Live out Loud Fitness turned that around! Through Lianne’s skilled guidance, ongoing support, positivity, encouragement, and creative, interesting workouts, I have lost 25 pounds and have more fitness than ever at 43 years of age. I have always hated running, but through the group and individual workouts with Lianne, I have come to really like it. The competitive bug hit me again, and in the past several years it’s been fun to place in Master’s 5k running races, and then to win an event this past fall! I do believe that this has only been possible because of Lianne and LOLF. The workouts with Lianne are something I always look forward to, and they are a very important part of my personal well being. Lianne is a delight to be with, with her fun and funny ways! I can highly recommend Lianne to anyone. She is a great trainer and a great person.

Liz S. & Eren T.My friend and I began Lianne's "Buddy Program" in June. When we started, I could not jog for 30 seconds without being completely winded and light-headed. Today, I am up to 5 minute intervals! The workouts are fun and Lianne is great at keeping us motivated and working while Eren and I chat and laugh. I wanted to stay motivated at home so Lianne stepped up and suggested I start emailing her when I work out on my own. Now when I email her my "check!" updates I know I am staying on the program. To top it off, I have lost over 6 lbs since August and shed 3 inches off my waist and 3.5 inches off my hips! My family recently told me I needed to keep up my training with Lianne no matter what because of the changes they see in my physical appearance AND my attitude! THANK YOU LIANNE!!!!

I've always been fairly "sweat-averse" in any activities, prefering books, music, and computers to anything requiring physical exertion. As I've grown older, I continue to maintain this preference though, when I hit 30, I began to maintain more weight, as well. I started working with Lianne and my friend Liz in June, and at the beginning, was fairly incredulous at some of the things that Lianne said we would be doing. I always thought "She might try, but I'll never be able to do that!" cleverly masked in sarcastic responses to her instructions. Regardless, every week, I was more aware that physically, things were changing. My posture was better, and I could work through discomfort. Most importantly, I've gotten a more concrete understanding of my body, and how it works. While doing the work and maintaining good habits between our weekly sessions is on me, Lianne's motivation has been the missing ingredient from other "get in shape" efforts. That the results mean that I am now able to accomplish a project like our yard, with only two blisters to show for it, is the best gift i could have ever given both my family. . . and myself.

Amy M.What do I love about Quad-Fit and why do I encourage others to participate? If you enjoy the competitiveness of a small group along with the accountability and camaraderie, then Quad -Fit is for you. Quad-Fit with Lianne has assisted me with four important insights (1) the power of the mind over the body, (2) achieving and demonstrating proper technique, (3) educating me on how muscles work, and (4) ensuring muscle specificity with each rep on each exercise. By applying these principles, I have climbed to a new level with no plateau in site. I am re-engaged in my strength training sessions, and the sky is the limit to what I can achieve.

Tim L.When I was younger, I was very active and able to stay in shape quite easily. However, when I reached the age of thirty, I noticed it had become more difficult to stay fit and before I knew it, I was over 200 lbs and completely out of shape. When it comes to exercising, I have always lacked the motivation that is required to have an effective workout program. That is, until I met Lianne. My wife gave me a LOLF gift certificate for Christmas and I made my first appointment shortly thereafter. I have to say that I was pretty nervous leading up to the first visit but once I began my first session, I was pleasantly surprised. Lianne asked lots of questions to find out what my goals were and constructed a challenging and fun workout that helped me achieve my goals. Fast forward seven months and I'm now lifting over twice as much as I could when I began and my cardio has significantly improved as well. Plus, I now have more energy and feel better both physically and mentally than I did before. As I continue my program with Lianne, I look forward to seeing where the journey will take me next.

Viraj M.Lianne really get's the concept of 'functional' strength. As a cancer surgeon, I do a lot of work with my hands. Before I started working out with Lianne, I felt I was getting weaker over time, and getting more hunched over. Lianne heard my concerns, and worked to create a program where I have better posture and more strength to do my job – well, and with less fatigue. As a bonus, I actually feel more energetic at the end of the day too.

Suzie G.I have been working out with Lianne for a year and a half now and not once have I dreaded going to a workout. Lianne has got to be one of the most positive individuals that I have ever met. Her laid back style and sense of humor make our workout sessions a true joy. She is so knowledgeable about all aspects of training that I am still learning from her in each of our sessions. Lianne has an incredible work ethic and is constantly keeping abreast of new trends in the industry. When I turned 39 years old, I made a personal vow that by the time I turned 40 I would lose weight and be "in shape". I had been down this path before - promising myself that I was going to finally start working out on a regular basis, but I would last for a few weeks and then gradually end up quitting. I attribute my success in finally reaching my goals to Lianne. Not only have I lost the weight, but at the ripe old age of 40 I am in the best shape of my life. I cannot imagine my life without exercise now and I owe it all to Lianne. Lianne started a boot camp in our neighborhood that started out with only 4 members. Since then the group size has increased tremendously strictly through word-of-mouth. We have become a tight-knit group and all of us agree that starting off our day with Lianne energizes all of us and makes our day brighter. We have participants who are at all levels of fitness - Lianne always makes sure that no one feels left out. She makes everyone feel good about where they are and is always pointing out how much better we are performing.
